
STEM INTENSIVES
Benefits of Participating in STEM Intensives:
Professional Development: STEM Intensives offers educators the opportunity to participate in virtual monthly meetings, each lasting approximately 1.5 hours. During these sessions, educators receive professional development from prominent STEM education leaders from around the country.
Networking and Expert Guidance: Participants in the STEM Intensive program join a professional learning community (PLC) of like minded educators from across North Carolina. Additionally, by connecting participants with leading professionals in the field, STEM Intensives aim to elevate the quality of STEM education provided in afterschool and OST programs.
Diverse Topics: The program covers a wide range of subjects within STEM and OST education, including innovative teaching techniques, curriculum development, and best practices. This diverse content helps educators stay current with the latest advancements in STEM education.
Stipend: Participants in accepted into the STEM Intensives 2023-2024 cohort receive a $500 stipend as a token of appreciation for their participation and contribution to the program. While only the 10 applicants in the official cohort are eligible for stipends this year, all afterschool and OST educators interested are more than welcome to participant in this program.
Community Impact: By enhancing the skills and knowledge of afterschool and OST educators, STEM Intensives indirectly benefits the students they serve, ultimately contributing to the growth and quality of STEM education in North Carolina.
Inclusivity: STEM Intensives is inclusive and open to educators who are passionate about improving STEM education, regardless of their previous experience in the field. No STEM background required!
Target Audience: The program is primarily aimed at educators who may have limited backgrounds in STEM but are looking to acquire the necessary tools and knowledge to lead successful STEM programming in their communities.
