Have you asked the youth in your program what they aspire to be when they grow up? Many of them name careers such as engineer, athlete, chef, or firefighter. It is seldom that we hear, “I want to be an afterschool or summer program provider”. Yet, there are amazingly passionate professionals in the out-of-school time field across North Carolina. Through The Journey Series, the North Carolina Center for Afterschool Programs spotlights the stories of individuals statewide on how they entered the field of out-of-school time, why they continue to serve youth and families in this capacity, and their hopes for the future. Every out-of-school time professional has a unique story!
